Tune in on August 21 to see the closing concert of this year's exciting season

Founded in 1944 by violin pedagogue Ivan Galamian, the 7-week summer program nestled amongst the picturesque Adirondack Mountains offers an immersive, professional training ground for highly accomplished and aspiring young violinists, cellists, violists, and pianists.

Former students include Itzhak Perlman, Ani and Ida Kavafian, Kyung-Wha and Myung-Wha Chung, Jesse Montgomery, Pinchas Zukerman, Jaime Laredo, Michael Rabin, Yo-Yo Ma, Lynn Harrell, Joshua Bell, James Ehnes and many more.

Celebrating its 80th anniversary, the Meadowmount School of Music's artistic director Janet Sung told The Violin Channel what makes the school unique.

"It is awe-inspiring that the Meadowmount School of Music and the vision of its founder Ivan Galamian still remain strong after 80 years," Janet Sung said.

"In a world that continues to evolve at such a fast pace, Meadowmount remains relatively unchanged in its principles and provides an environment of total immersion with uninterrupted time and focused practice to develop as an artist," she added.
