ON THIS DAY | Happy Birthday Violinist Uto Ughi!

A student of Georges Enescu and Yehudi Menuhin, he is recognised as one of the finest violinists of the last Century, having appeared during his 50+ year career with a majority of America and Europe’s top orchestras and conductors

Today is Italian violinist and conductor Uto Ughi’s 77th birthday.

Mr Ughi is the former Music Director of the l’Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and has founded a number of international festivals, including the Omaggio a Venezia, Omaggio a Roma and Uto Ughi per Roma.

He currently concertizes on the 1701 Kreutzer Stradivarius violin – once owned by the dedicatee of Beethoven’s famous violin sonata.
