Prizes Awarded at Switzerland’s Tibor Varga International Violin Competition
Anna Agafia Egholm from Denmark has been awarded 1st prize at the 2019 Tibor Varga International Violin Competition
22-year-old Anna Agafia Egholm from Denmark has today been awarded 1st prize at the 2019 Tibor Varga International Violin Competition – in Sion, Switzerland.
A graduate of the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne where she studied with Svetlana Makarova, Anna is a former major prize winner at the Ginette Neveu, Marie Cantagrill, Ysaÿe and Nielsen International Violin Competitions.
2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to 19-year-old Adam Koch Christensen from Denmark - and 24-year-old Roksana Kwaśnikowska from Poland.
Open to violinists of any nationality 26 years or under, Anna will receive CHF 20,000.
The 2019 jury comprised: Georges Starobinski (Chairman), Pavel Vernikov, Qian Zhou, Krysztof Wegrzyn, David Takeno, Gilbert Varga, Juan Carlos Garvayo and Antonio Meneses.
Previous major prize winners include: VC Artists Ji Won Song and Paul Huang.
