Happy Birthday, VC Artist Paul Huang!
Today is Taiwanese-American violinist, VC Artist Paul Huang’s 33rd birthday!
A graduate of The Juilliard School, Huang is a former first prize winner at the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition — and was awarded a prestigious 2015 Avery Fisher Career Grant and 2017 Lincoln Center Award for Emerging Artists. He was also the First Prize Winner of the 2011 Young Concert Artists International Auditions.
This year, Huang signed an exclusive recording contract with Naïve Records, and his solo debut recording Kaleidoscope will be released on October 6, 2023.
In April 2023, Huang joined the Taiwan Philharmonic, and its music director Jun Märkl, for its David Geffen Hall debut on the orchestra’s last three days of tour with Max Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy Op. 46.
Huang's other recent highlights included a debut at Bravo!Vail Music Festival stepping in for violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter in Mozart’s Violin Concerto No.4 with Chamber Orchestra Vienna-Berlin — in addition to performances with the Detroit Symphony with Leonard Slatkin, Houston Symphony with Andres Orozco-Estrada, Baltimore Symphony and Seoul Philharmonic with Markus Stenz, and recital debuts at the Lucerne Festival in Switzerland and Aspen Music Festival.
He plays on the legendary 1742 “ex-Wieniawski” Guarneri del Gesù on extended loan through the Stradivari Society of Chicago and is on the faculty of Taipei National University of the Arts.
