Violinist Eldbjørg Hemsing Signs with Sony Classical
The Norwegian violinist will join Sony Classical’s roster of artists including Joshua Bell, Attica Quartet, and Esa-Pekka Salonen
The exclusive collaboration with Sony Classical will see Eldbjørg Hemsing release the single “Winter Meditation,” a new arrangement based on Vivaldi’s “Largo” from the Four Seasons, on December 17, 2021.
Hemsing’s Sony Classical debut album will be released in Fall 2022.
A graduate of the Barratt Due Institute of Music, Eldbjørg previously performed as a soloist with ensembles including Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, and Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
She is also co-founder of Hemsing Festival and is artistic director of SPIRE, an annual mentoring program presented within the Nordland Music Festival to support young artists studying classical music.
Hemsing plays a 1707 Antonio Stradivari “Rivaz, Baron Gutmann” violin, on loan from Norway’s Dextra Musica Foundation.
“I am thrilled beyond words to join the amazing team at Sony, and to be among their legendary roster of artists,” Hemsing stated in a press release. “The creative expression and global accessibility offered by recordings are hugely important to my artistic mission, and I could not be more excited for the wonderful projects that we have ahead of us!”
"We are very pleased to start working together with Eldbjørg Hemsing, who is not only an extraordinary artist but also a special personality,” added Michael Brüggemann, vice president of Sony Classical in Germany. “It is our common goal to attract new audiences for classical music with inspiring recording projects.”
