Eminent Soviet teacher Yuri Yankelevich died on this day in 1973, aged 64

A student of Leopold Auer, Maestro Yankelevich served a long term Professorship at the Moscow Conservatory – his famed students including Boris Belkin, Dora Schwarzberg, Mikhaïl Bezverkhny, Vladimir Spivakov, Viktor Tretyakov, Albert Markov and Nelli Shkolnikova.
