Prizes Awarded at 2017 Bottesini International Bass Competition

30 year old Belgian double bassist Wies de Boeve has been awarded 1st prize at the 2017 Bottesini International Double Bass Competition

30 year old Belgian double bassist Wies de Boeve has been awarded 1st prize at the 2017 Bottesini International Double Bass Competition, in Crema, Italy.

A current member of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Wies is a former major prize winner at the Markneukirchen, Scottish and Paris International Bass Competitions and in September last year was awarded 1st prize at the ARD International Music Competition.

He will receive €10,000 and an Adriano Massari bass bow.

2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to Lorraine Campet from France and Dominik Wagner from Austria.

This year’s jury prize was awarded to Theotime Voisin from France.

The 2017 jury comprised Salvatore Accardo (Chair), Franco Petracchi, Eugene Levinson, Jeff Bradetich, Marc Dorin, Petru Iuga and Enrico Fagone.
