Philadelphia Orchestra Cellist William Stokking Has Died - Aged 81

American cellist William Stokking has passed away aged 81.

A student of Gregor Piatigorsky, Felix Salmond and Leonard Rose, Mr Stokking served as Principal Cellist of the Philadelphia Orchestra for 32 years years, from 1973 until his retirement in 2005 - and held positions on faculty at the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Curtis Institute of Music.
