The Juilliard School has today announced the launch of the 2015 8th Starling-DeLay Symposium on Violin Studies – to take place in New York City, from the 26-30th May.

Dedicated to fostering the legacy of the late Dorothy DeLay, the biennial teaching Symposium will feature a five day festival of intense violin masterclasses, recitals, lectures and pedagogy sessions.

This year's event will include public coaching by virtuoso Sarah Chang, violinist Ronald Copes of the Juilliard String Quartet - and respected violin pedagogues Daniel Heifetz, Paul Kantor and Laurie Smukler.

Violinists Ani & Ida Kavafian and Sean Lee will perform recitals during the 5 day event -  with other highlights to include Symposium Artistic Director, Brian Lewis' pedagogical discussions on “Tone Production: Information Through Sound” and “Teaching Versatility: The Music of Fritz Kreisler.”

The 2013 7th Starling-DeLay Violin Symposium welcomed in excess of 180 participants from over 14 different countries.

Up to 12 exceptional student artists will be chosen to attend this year's event tuition-free, as performers and recipients of on-stage coaching.
