London's Philharmonia Orch Extends Conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen For Another Year

The Philharmonia Orchestra has announced the contract extension of Principal Conductor and Artist Advisor Esa-Pekka Salonen to the end of the 2017-18 season

The Philharmonia Orchestra in London has today announced the contract extension of Finnish Principal Conductor and Artist Advisor Esa-Pekka Salonen to the end of the 2017-18 season.

The agreement, described as “a rolling contract”, will see the 58 year old Maestro lead seven programs during the next season.

Conductor Laureate Vladimir Ashkenazy will lead four ‘All-Russian’ programs during 2017-18, the orchestra has indicated.

Maestro Salonen also current serves as Conductor Laureate of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Composer-In-Residence at the New York Philharmonic, Artistic Director and Cofounder of the Baltic Sea Festival - and as Artist in Association at the Finnish National Opera and Ballet.
