Seattle Symphony Orchestra Loses Concertmaster Back to Boston
It has been announce today that Seattle Symphony Concertmaster, Alexander Velinzon has stood down, after 3 season - to return to his previous position as Assistant Concertmaster with the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
“I want to express my gratitude to the Seattle Symphony for a wonderful three seasons” the Russian-born violinist has said, “... however, I feel that professionally and personally the BSO is the right place for me at this time.”
A graduate of the Juilliard School where he studied with Dorothy DeLay, Alexander previously served as Guest Concertmaster with the London, Seoul and Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestras.
“Alex is a wonderful artist,” Seattle Symphony Music Director, Ludovic Morlot has said, “ … I'm grateful for the many hours of music we made together, and sincerely wish him all the best for his future in Boston.'
