British film and television composer Jonathan Goldstein has died in a plane crash

British film and television composer Jonathan Goldstein has died in a plane crash.

The award-winning composer was flying a plane from Switzerland to Italy with his wife, saxophonist Hannah Marcinowicz and their 7 month old baby, when the light aircraft came down in the Swiss Alps on Sunday.

"We are all devastated by the news of Jonathan, Hannah and Saskia's deaths ... we loved them all so very much ... they were so happy together, and we will miss them terribly," a spokesperson for the family has this week said.

Jonathan previously served as Music Director and Composer-in-Residence for the Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre - before focusing his career on composition and orchestration for the film, theatre, TV and advertising industries.

Swiss authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
