Danish-born cello pedagogue Hans Jørgen Jensen was born on this day in 1950.

A graduate of the Danish Royal Academy of Music and The Juilliard School, where he studied with Asger Lund Christiansen, Leonard Rose, Channing Robbins and Pierre Fournier, Professor Jensen has served a long term teaching position on faculty at the Northwestern University Bienen School of Music, in Evanston, Illinois, United States.

He is the author of the 'CelloMind' pedagogical technique book - and is a former recipient of the prestigious American String Teachers Association ‘Artist Teacher’ Award.

Professor Jensen's famed students include: VC Young Artists Brannon Cho and Sihao He.
