Respected Australian cellist and pedagogue Nelson Cooke has passed - aged 98

Respected Australian cellist and pedagogue Nelson Cooke has passed - aged 98.

A student of Pablo Casals, Mr Cooke held principal positions with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra - and held teaching positions on faculty at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, Canberra School of Music, Australian National Academy of Music and the University of South Florida.

In 2011, he was awarded a 'Member of the Order of Australia' accolade for his services to music.

Our condolences are with Mr Cooke’s family, friends, colleagues and students.
