Ondine Records has this month announced the release of German violin virtuoso Christian Tetzlaff‘s new album: Bartok: Violin Concertos Nos. 1 & 2.

Recorded with Finnish conductor Hannu Lintu and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the disc features Béla Bartók‘s 1st and 2nd Violin Concertos.

“When I first discovered Béla Bartók’s first concerto it was an absolute revelation for me …” Christian has told The Violin Channel.

“He had written the work in around 1907-1908 and dedicated it to violinist Stefi Geyer, who he was madly in love with … and very audibly so …” he has said.

“When you listen to the 1st concerto coupled with the much better known 2nd concerto, composed later in 1937-1938, you get a compete picture … of this incredible composer and human being.”
