German record label, Deutsche Grammophon has announced the launch of their own classical music web streaming service – the world’s first streaming app from a classical label.

‘DG Discovery’, available now in the iphone App store, offers high quality audio access to over 450 hand-selected albums from the Deutsche Grammophon archives – with complete access priced from just US $3.99 per month.

Featuring interactive artist pages and biographies, and simple integration to iTunes downloads, the app has been described as the more informative, less chaotic alternative to traditional classical music streaming services – such as Spotify.

The ‘DG Discovery’ app is scheduled to increase its selection by 20 to 40 albums per month – as curated by DG’s editors.
