Italian conductor Fabio Luisi will step down as Music Director of the Zurich Opera House - effective from the conclusion of the 2020-2021 season
It has been announced today that Italian conductor Fabio Luisi will step down as Music Director of the Zurich Opera House - effective from the conclusion of the 2020-2021 season.
He will be succeeded in the role by 54-year-old Italian conductor Gianandrea Noseda, Opera House officials have today said.
Maestro Luisi, 59, who was last month appointed as the new Music Director of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, had served the directorship in Zurich since 2012.
Maestro Noseda currently serves as Music Director of the National Symphony Orchestra and the Orquestra de Cadaques - and as Principal Guest Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra and the Israel Philharmonic.
“With the offer of the Ring Cycle, it was particularly difficult to say no ... and I thought it was a nice opportunity or me to dig more inside Germany culture,” Gianandrea Noseda has told local press.
