Second New Zealand Conductor Awarded International Position in a Week
The Royal Scottish National Orchestra has announced New Zealand-born conductor Holly Mathieson as their new Assistant Conductor
The Royal Scottish National Orchestra has today announced New Zealand-born conductor Holly Mathieson as their new Assistant Conductor.
She currently serves as Resident Conductor with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland - and has previously served as Assistant Conductor to the Royal Scottish National Orchestra’s Principal Guest Conductor Marin Alsop - and to BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra’s Principal Conductor Donald Runnicles.
The orchestra has indicated they received over 300 international applicants for the position.
The announcement comes just days after it was announced that New-Zealand conductor Gemma New had been appointed as the new ‘Resident Conductor’ of the St. Louis Symphony.
