The 10 Semi-Finalists have been announced for the 2017 42nd annual Houston Symphony Ima Hogg Music Competition
The 10 Semi-Finalists have today been announced for the 2017 42nd annual Houston Symphony Ima Hogg Music Competition, in Houston, USA.
Open to competitors of any orchestral instruments or piano aged between 16 and 26 years of age, the 1st prize winner will receive US $25,000 plus a solo engagement with the Houston Symphony.
This year’s Semi-Finalists are:
- Michael Ferri (Violin)
- Rachel Ostler (Violin)
- I-Jung Huang (Violin)
- Rainer Crosett (Cello)
- Charles Seo (Cello)
- Churen Li (Piano)
- Vijay Venkatesh (Piano)
- Alan Woo (Piano)
- Joseph Morris (Clarinet)
- Kiril Angelov (Marimba)
The Semi-Final stage will be held on June 1st at the Shepherd School of Music in Houston.
Previous 1st prize winners include 2016 Wieniawski International Violin Competitions Prize Winner, Luke Hsu from the United States.
