Violinist Joshua Peters Awarded Canadian Eckhardt-Gramatte Prize
Canadian violinist Joshua Peters have been announced as the recipient of the 2015 Eckhardt-Gramatte National Music Competition prize, in Brandon, Canada.
A student of Ian Swensen, at the San Francisco Conservatory, Joshua will receive CAD $10,000, a three-week residency and debut recital at the Casalmaggiore International Music Festival, in Italy - and a cross-Canada winner's tour.
Created as a tribute to composer and pianist/violinist Sonia Eckhardt-Gramatte, and hosted annually by the Brandon University School of Music, the coveted bursary is devoted to the encouragement of exceptional performance of the contemporary repertoire.
2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to cellists Cameron Crozman and Sarah Gans.
