Latvian conductor Mariss Jansons has been announced as the recipient of the prestigious 2019 Herbert von Karajan Music Prize
Latvian conductor Mariss Jansons has this week been announced as the recipient of the prestigious 2019 Herbert von Karajan Music Prize - in recognition of exceptional global artistic achievement.
Awarded annually since 2017 at the Salzburg Easter Festival by the widow of the legendary conductor Herbert von Karajan, Maestro Jansons will receive €50,000.
Previous recipients include cellist Sol Gabetta and pianist Daniil Trifonov.
