Italian luthier Luigi Lanaro has died - aged 96.
Italian luthier Luigi Lanaro has died - aged 96.
A student Giuseppe Pedrazzini and Gaetano Sgarabotto, Mr Lanaro was awarded 1st prize at the 1949 Cremona International Violin Making Competition.
Throughout his career he opened workshops in Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Siena and Padua - and produced approximately 380 string instruments, all based on the Stradivari model.
