Semi-Finalists Announced at Montreal International Violin Competition
The 12 Semi-Finalists have been announced at the 2016 Montreal International Violin Competition – including 4 VC ‘Young Artists’
The 12 Semi-Finalists have just minutes ago been announced at the 2016 Montreal International Violin Competition, in Montreal, Canada – including 4 VC ‘Young Artists’.
They are:
- VC ‘Young Artist’ Richard Lin from Taiwan/United States
- VC ‘Young Artist’ Fedor Rudin from France/Russia
- VC ‘Young Artist’ Ayana Tsuji from Japan
- VC ‘Young Artist’ Bomsori Kim from South Korea
- Sirena Huang from the United States
- Christine Lim from the United States/South Korea
- Xiao Wang from China
- Anna Lee from South Korea
- Minami Yoshida from Japan
- Petteri Iivonen from Finland
- Gyehhe Kim from South Korea
- Ji Won Song from South Korea
Open to violinists of any nationality, aged 29 years or younger, the 1st prize winner will receive $30,000 CAD (US $23,000) – and a number of important international engagements.
This year’s jury comprises: Pierre Amoyal, Boris Brott, Boris Garlitsky, Ida Kavafian, Mihaela Martin, Vera Tsu Wei-Ling and Kathleen Winkler.
Previous prize winners include VC ‘Artists’ Benjamin Beilman, Nikita Borioso-Glebsky, Stephen Waarts, Zeyu Victor Li and Fedor Rudin.
