NEW MUSIC TUESDAY | Paganini Caprices Arranged for Violin And Orchestra by Edison Denisov
The arrangements of Paganini's 9th and 21st caprices performed by violinist VC Artist Fedor Rudin were written by Rudin's grandfather, the late Edison Denisov
Rudin is seen here performing with the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra.
"Edison Denisov wrote the Five Paganini Caprices for Violin and Orchestra in 1985, and they were commissioned by the great Russian violinist Oleg Kagan," said Rudin. "Since then, they have been recorded only a few times and are quite rarely performed live."
"Besides the emotional fact that they were written by my grandfather, there is something very special about this arrangement. Denisov gives a completely different dimension to the Caprices without changing one single note of the solo violin part."
"I hope to take the listeners on a time-travel musical journey, after which they will maybe perceive these caprices differently even while they are being performed solo."
