The Gallery Players of Niagara has announced the release of period-instrument ensemble, Eybler Quartet‘s new album: ‘Franz Asplmayr Six Quartets’.
The disc features the world premiere recording of 18th Century Viennese composer Franz Asplmayr‘s (1728–1786) Six String Quartets.
“The mission of the Eybler Quartet is to explore the richness of music for string quartet from its earliest appearance … by uncovering the vast wealth of repertoire beyond the best known names we see a much more varied and nuanced world of sound – a world of friends and colleagues giving and taking inspiration from one another …” violinist Aisslinn Nosky has told The Violin Channel.
“From our first moments playing Franz Asplmayr, the touching and expressive individuality of his voice stood out to us and has continued to delight us and our audiences … ” she has said.
“We hope listeners will find delight in hearing a new voice and finding a new musical friend … and that they will find Asplmayr’s music full of the features we admire most in many of the most well known composers of this period – harmonic adventurousness, inventive material and formal innovation.”
