The Royal Scottish National Orchestra has today announced the appointment of American violinist Sharon Roffman as their new joint-leader - effective from 2018.
A graduate of The Juilliard School and the Cleveland Institute of Music, Sharon has performed as guest concertmaster with a number of leading international ensembles - including the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Swedish Radio Symphony, BBC Philharmonic and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.
“Sharon is such a gifted musician and a marvelous fit for the RSNO ... and I’m delighted that she has accepted the position,” Music Director Peter Oundjian has said.
“Her experience and tenacity will bring increased strength to our unit,” he has said.
Sharon will share the leadership position with violinist Maya Iwabuchi - who has served the role since 2011.
