The Violin Channel recently caught up with acclaimed stringed instrument maker Samuel Zygmuntowicz – at the 2014 Violin Society of America Competition and Convention, in Indianapolis.
We sat the New York-based luthier down for a game of 'VC 20 Questions' – to help gain some fun and fascinating insight into the man behind the myths.

Samuel Zygmuntowicz begain his instrument making training aged just 13 years old - and went on to study making and restoration under Peter Prier, Carl Becker and Rene Morel. He previously held the world record for the highest price paid for a stringed instrument by a living maker – a 1994 Guarneri-model violin, sold in 2003 by Tarisio for US $130,000, and previously owned by virtuoso Isaac Stern.
