Stuttgart State Opera Appoint New 24 Year Old Kapellmeister

The Staatsoper Stuttgart has announced the appointment of 24 year old German conductor Thomas Guggeis as their new Kapellmeister

The Staatsoper Stuttgart, in Germany, has today announced the appointment of 24 year old German conductor Thomas Guggeis as their new Kapellmeister - effective from the commencement of the 2018/19 season.

Thomas has served as assistant to Maestro Daniel Barenboim, and as an official répétiteur, at the Berlin State Opera since 2016.

He has recently led performances of ‘Salome’ with the Berlin opera house - after conductor Christoph von Dohnányi resigned over artistic differences. 

In the symphonic field, he has worked with orchestras including the Munich Symphony, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, the Bad Reichenhall Philharmonic, the Munich Chamber Orchestra and the Georgian Chamber Orchestra.
