2016 Tarisio Trust Young Artist Grant Winners Announced
Tarisio has today announced 4 recipients of 2016 Tarisio Trust Young Artist grants - including VC 'Artist' Tessa Lark
Tarisio Fine Instruments & Bows Auction House has today announced 4 recipients of 2016 Tarisio Trust Young Artist grants.
This year’s bursary winners are:
- VC ‘Artist’ Tessa Lark - to fund a debut recording of Frank Bridge’s Piano Trios.
- Canadian cellist, Arien Husko – for the development of an interactive concert series providing free performances to children in Philadelphia with autism.
- American cellist Michael Kaufman - for the commissioning of five American composers for new Cello Quintet repertoire.
- John Mietus & Jonathan Sussman – to aid the development of ‘The String Bank’, a new initiative to collect musicians’ used strings and redistribute them to underprivileged schools.
Open to applicants aged between 18 to 35, the US $5000 scholarships have been awarded to support innovative stringed instrument projects – created and driven by young artists.
The 5th 2016 grant winner will be awarded via an online audience poll - from 15 shortlisted candidates.

This year’s jury comprised: violin virtuoso Lisa Batiashvilli, cellist Gautier Capucon – and Carnegie Hall Director of Artistic Planning, Jeremy Geffen.
The 2015 bursary winners were: Eric Silberger, Heerim Elizabeth Lee, Lauren Latessa, Mari Lee and Rebecca Hannifin & Paul Wagasky.
