VC Young Artist Veriko Tchumburidze Wins Stuttgart State Orchestra's Virtual Competition
After submitting a video of her playing, the VC Young Artist will perform Dvořák's violin concerto during the orchestra's opening weekend
The Stuttgart State Orchestra announced that VC Young Artist Veriko Tchumburidze won its online competition.
Organized by the orchestra's general music director Cornelius Meister, the competition aimed to give young musicians an opportunity to start or further their careers amid a difficult time in the industry.
Applicants, who had to have attended a German music academy within the last two years, were first required to submit a 10-30 minute video of their playing.
Tchumburidze, the 25-year-old Georgian violinist, was selected for the opportunity from approximately 50 applicants. She will perform Antonin Dvořák's violin concerto with the orchestra and conductor Marek Janowski on October 24 and 25, 2021.
“I feel very honored to have been selected as a soloist and consider it a privilege to be able to make music with this wonderful orchestra and Maestro Janowski," Tchumburidze said in the orchestra's press release.
"For me as a young artist, this is a dream come true. For me personally, Antonín Dvořák's Violin Concerto is one of his most beautiful works, and I am very happy to be making a guest appearance in Stuttgart for the first time with this piece."
Tchumburidze won the 2016 Wieniawski Competition and has performed with several notable ensembles and festivals around the world. She studied at the Conservatory of the University of Mersin, the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, and the Munich University of Music and Theater.
