German-Swiss violinist, conductor and composer Adolf Busch died on this day in 1952 - aged 60.
A student of Willy Hess and Bram Eldering, he was a founding member of the Vienna Konzertverein and the Busch String Quartets – and a founding partner of the Marlboro Music School and Festival.
Mr Busch's famed students included Erica Morini, Stefi Geyer and Yehudi Menuhin.
