SAD NEWS | Belgian Violinist & Conductor Georges Octors Has Died - Aged 97 [RIP]

Congolese-Belgian violinist and conductor Georges-Elie Octors has passed away - aged 97

Congolese-Belgian violinist and conductor Georges Octors has passed away - aged 97.
 
A graduate of the Brussels Conservatoire, where he studied with Mathieu Crickboom and Maurice Raskin, Mr Octors was a former 1st prize winner at the 1941 Vieuxtemps International Violin Competition.
 
Throughout his career, he served as Music Director of the Belgian National Orchestra, Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia and the Gelders Orkes - and was the founder of the Antwerp Bach Ensemble.
 
He conducted the Final Round of the Queen Elisabeth International Violin Competition from 1976 to 1989.
 
Our condolences are with Mr Octors’ family, friends and colleagues.
