Violinist Georg Mönch has Died, Aged 84

The Czech violinist was most well known for his interpretations of pieces by modern composers
Composers Elliott Carter and Aldo Clementi wrote works for Mönch. He made the first recording of Salvatore Sciarrino’s "Sei Caprici" in addition to recording the complete violin and piano works of Béla Bartók with pianist Massimiliano Damerini.
Based in Italy, he performed at festivals including Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Venice Biennale, Berliner Festwochen, Holland Festival, Teatro alla Scala, and the Accademia di Santa Cecilia.
