Violinist Renaud Capuçon has completed a six cathedral concert tour, where all profits will be donated towards the restoration of the Notre Dame Cathedral
French violinist Renaud Capuçon has this week completed a six cathedral concert tour in Chartres, Reims, Lyon, Paris, Amiens and Bordeaux — with all money raised to be donated towards the restoration of the Notre Dame Cathedral, in Paris.
The 43-year-old virtuoso was joined by close collaborators, violists Gérard Caussé and Adrien La Marca and cellists Julia Hagen, Victor Julien-Lafferiere and Edgar Moreau.
"Playing Bach in these sacred places has given me the certainty that music soothes the spirit … I’m heading home with a light heart," Renaud said this week.
The iconic Paris cathedral was destroyed by a large fire in April earlier this year.
