Today is American violinist Norman Carol's 92nd birthday!
A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied with Efrem Zimbalist, Mr Carol served as Concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra for 29 years - under the Music Directorship of Eugene Ormandy, Riccardo Muti and Wolfgang Sawallisch.
Mr Carol gave the premiere performance of the Stanislaw Skrowaczweski Violin Concerto.
