Anne-Sophie Mutter Honored with German State Artistic and Philanthropic Prize

German violin virtuoso Anne-Sophie Mutter has today been announced as one of three recipients of an annual Bavarian State Foundation cultural award - honoring outstanding artistic and philanthropic activity.

A total of €30,000 will be shared between the violinist’s foundation, poet and author Eugen Gomringer and the Nuremberg Theater Pfütze.

Ms Mutter was praised for her rare musical abilities and her philanthropic and artistic projects - including aiding the development of emerging young musicians via her Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation.

In January of this year, the 54 year old virtuoso was also awarded a 2017 ‘Crystal Award’ by the World Economic Forum – for her services to music education and young artists.

She this week released her new album ‘Trout Quintet’ - with piano virtuoso Danill Trifonov and 3 members of the Mutter Foundation.
