AUDITION | Trondheim Symphony Orchestra & Opera — Concertmaster and Associate Concertmaster

Applications to either of these two positions will close on October 31, 2022

Norway’s Trondheim Symphony Orchestra & Opera (TSO) currently has two vacancies: one of two equal first concertmaster positions with duty to alternate on 1st and 2nd chair, as well as one associate concertmaster position.

The first and second rounds of auditions will be through video recordings to be submitted by October 31, 2022. If qualified, live auditions will be held in Trondheim, Norway, on January 21 and 22, 2023.

As part of the audition process, an orchestra trial period may also be offered. Subsequent interviews will assess leadership suitability from a personality standpoint, and will be taken into consideration during the hiring process. The start date of the position will be upon agreement.

Founded in 1909, the TSO currently consists of 86 permanent musicians. In addition to classical symphony concerts, the orchestra also engages in opera, contemporary music, premiere performances, early music, chamber music, popular concerts, educational activities and talent development, plus educational projects for children and young people. The TSO is led by its chief conductor, Han-Na Chang.
