2015 Avery Fisher Career Grant Recipients Announced - Including 2 VC 'Young Artists'
The 2015 recipients of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Development Grants have today been announced – including VC 'Artist' Paul Huang and VC 'Rising Star' Simone Porter.
This year's 5 grant recipients are:
- 24 year old violinist, VC 'Artist' Paul Huang
- 18 year old violinist, VC 'Rising Star' Simone Porter
- 28 year old violinist, Kristin Lee
- 23 year old violist, Matthew Lipman
- 27 year old pianist/composer, Michael Brown
Administered by the Avery Fisher Artist Program, each grant winner will receive USD $25,000 to assist with career development.
Since 1976, more than 125 talented young musicians have been recognized with Avery Fisher Career Grant Awards – including Gil Shaham, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Joshua Bell, Sarah Chang, Leila Josefowicz, Hilary Hahn, Alisa Weilerstein - and VC 'Artists' David Aaron Carpenter, Bella Hristova, Stefan Jackiw, Augustin Hadelich, Benjamin Beilman and Itamar Zorman.
