Conductor Mariss Jansons Awarded Salzburg Easter Festival’s €50,000 Karajan Prize

Latvian conductor Mariss Jansons has this week been announced as the recipient of the prestigious 2019 Herbert von Karajan Music Prize – in recognition of exceptional global artistic achievement.

Awarded annually since 2017 at the Salzburg Easter Festival by the widow of the legendary conductor Herbert von Karajan, Maestro Jansons will receive €50,000.

Previous recipients include cellist Sol Gabetta and pianist Daniil Trifonov.
