VERY SAD NEWS | Veteran Los Angeles Phil Violinist Barry Socher has Died

Los Angeles Philharmonic violinist Barry Socher has passed away, aged 68, following a lengthy battle with cancer

American violinist Barry Socher has passed away, aged 68, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

A student of Alice Schoenfeld, Eudice Shapiro and Zino Francescatti, Mr Socher served as a 1st violinist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic for 35 years - and held teaching positions on faculty at the University of Southern California and Pomona College.

In addition, he served as Concertmaster for the Los Angeles Master Chorale Orchestra, Pasadena Pops Orchestra, Fresno Philharmonic and the Ojai Festival and Oregon Bach Festival orchestras.

Our condolences are with Mr Socher's family, friends, colleagues and students.
