VC 'Young Artists' Nikki Chooi & Fedor Roudine to Perform in Competition Super-Showcase
VC 'Young Artists' Nikki Chooi and Fedor Roudine are among a star-studded lineup of international prize winners to perform this week at the Musical Olympus Festival, in St Petersburg.
The annual event has gathered 34 of 2013's international music competition prize winners, from 18 different countries, for a week-long spectacular - across some of the great stages of Russia.
CANADIAN VC 'YOUNG ARTIST' NIKKI CHOOI, IN SOUNDCHECK TODAY FOR THIS EVENING'S PERFORMANCE - WITH JORMA PANULA INTERNATIONAL CONDUCTING COMPETITION PRIZE WINNER, MAESTRO TOBIAS WOLKMANN
Nikki, the 2013 Michael Hill International Violin Competition 1st prize winner, will perform Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 this evening with Maestro Tobias Wolkmann and the St Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra – at the famed State Academic Cappella.
Fedor, the 2013 Rodolfo Lipizer International Violin Competition 1st prize winner, will perform Saint-Saens' 'Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso' and Waxman's 'Carmen Fantasy' on Friday 30th, with conductor Lorenzo Viotti and the Taurida International Symphony Orchestra.
Other 2013 prize winners to appear this week, include: Montreal International Violin Competition 1st prize winner Marc Bouchkov, ARDS International Competition prize winner Bomsori Kim, Khachaturian International Cello Competition 1st prize winner Andrew Ionita - and Leopold Mozart International Violin Competition 1st prize winner Maia Cabeza.
The festival will also host a world premiere on May 23rd - with Samuele Telari, winner of the Italian International Young Musicians Competition Prize, to perform a concerto for accordion and orchestra by Italian composer Enrico Blatti.
