Soviet-born New York-based violinist Nina Beilina has passed away following a year-long illness – aged 81.
A graduate of the Moscow Conservatoire, where she studied with Abraham Yampolsky, Julius Eidlin and David Oistrakh, Ms Beilina was a former major prize winner at the Tchaikovsky, Enescu and Long-Thibaud International Violin Competitions.

She served on the violin teaching faculty at New York’s Mannes School of Music from 1978 until her retirement in 2017.
