Polish-born American violinist and conductor Szymon Goldberg was born on this day in 1909.
A student of Carl Flesch, he served as Concertmaster of the Dresden and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras – and held distinguished teaching positions at Yale University, the Juilliard School, Curtis Institute of Music and the Manhattan School of Music.
