The Los Angeles Philharmonic has this week announced the resignation of Chief Executive, Simon Woods – effective immediately.

He had lead the organization since January, 2018 – and no reason or explanation has been given, at this stage, for the surprise departure.

“The Los Angeles Philharmonic is an extraordinary organization in every respect … it has been my complete honor to lead it for almost two years … however, after a great deal of reflection, I have concluded that my hopes and aspirations lie elsewhere, and as a result, I have tendered my resignation,” Simon has this week said in a statement.

British-born, he previously served as President and Chief Executive of the Seattle Symphony, New Jersey Symphony and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
