American violin virtuoso Berl Senofsky died on this day in 2002.

A student of Louis Persinger and Ivan Galamian, Mr Senofsky was a former recipient of the coveted Walter Naumberg Award – and was the first and only American 1st Prize winner at the Queen Elisabeth International Violin Competition.
