The La Jolla Music Society’s SummerFest has announced the appointment of Israeli-born pianist Inon Barnatan as their new Music Director
The La Jolla Music Society’s SummerFest, in San Diego, has today announced the appointment of 32 year old Israeli-born pianist Inon Barnatan as their new Music Director - effective from 2019.
He will succeed violinist Cho-Liang ‘Jimmy’ Lin - who has served the role for the past 18 seasons.
“Not only is Inon an amazing soloist and chamber player, he’s an amazing collaborator, on and off the stage, and a wonderful administrator …” the Society’s Director of Artistic Planning & Education, Leah Rosenthal has said.
“That’s key to being SummerFest’s music director — to work well with the staff and have a shared vision,” she has said.
Inon’s duties will include overseeing all SummerFest programming and artistic personnel - as well as the management of the La Jolla Music Society’s SummerFest Fellowship Artist Program.
