Warner Classics and Erato Records has this month announced the release of the French-based Quatuor Ébène‘s new album: ‘Beethoven Around the World‘.
The disc features Beethoven’s String Quartet’s No. 7 in F Op. 59 No. 1 ‘Rasumovsky No. 1‘ – and No. 8 in E Minor Op. 59 No. 2 ‘Rasumovsky No. 2‘.
Disc recorded live and in rehearsals at the Mozartsaal, Konzerthaus in Vienna – in June, 2019.
“We have been invited by Carnegie Hall, in New York City, to perform the complete Beethoven String Quartet Cycle in 2020 – in honour of Beethoven’s 250th Birthday … and this is a huge honour for us …” violinist Pierre Colombet has told The Violin Channel.
“As part of our extensive preparation for this project, we’ve been performing and recording the entire Beethoven String Quartet repertoire this season – over 18 countries, 6 continents … and over a total of 7 CDs …” he has said.
“These two particular quartets are in the middle of Beethoven’s evolution – an in our opinion are the best examples of best balance between easy access and truly deep emotion.”
