Alpha Classics has this week announced the release of experimental Moldovan-Austrian-Swiss violin virtuoso Patricia Kopatchinskaja’s new album ‘Deux’.
Recorded with acclaimed Russian pianist Polina Leschenko, whose approach to music has been described as being equally as extreme, the disc features Poulenc’s Violin Sonata, Dohnanyi’s ‘Waltz from Coppelia’, Bartok’s 2nd Violin Sonata and Ravel’s ‘Tzigane’.
“The pianist Polina Leschenko was the inspiration for this recital program ... I am in love with every note and breath of her ... her incredibly genuine and ingenious way of playing with the music ... yes, it's not playing the music, but playing WITH it - like cat and mouse, or maybe even gibbon and tiger ... her volcanism, her fearlessness, her unpredictable rubato ..." Patricia has told The Violin Channel.
"She is uncompromising on quality and on being honest with herself ... In admiring her I learn how to improve myself in works which I thought I knew, yet I had no idea about the possibilities of where this amazing and unique pianist could transport us,” she has said.
