Australian VC ‘Artist' Ray Chen has today announced the launch of a new charity crowdfunding campaign, entitled ‘Musical Heroes’ - aimed to raise much needed funds for community musical initiatives.
“I’ve always been a huge advocate for music education and there are so many unsung musical heroes around the world … and I’m asking you to help me recognize these heroes,” the 27 year old virtuoso has told The Violin Channel.

The first to be acknowledged will be brass instrument teacher, Stanford Thompson from “Play on Philly” - an after-school music programme in Philadelphia serving more than 300 school-aged students.
Ray is hoping to raise US $20,000, via an indiegogo campaign, to directly aid Stanford's efforts.
“These people deserve recognition, and they are the true heroes of our industry … help make their jobs easier so they can better inspire more kids to music,” Ray has said.

All donations US $10 and over are tax deductible.
As part of an on-going series, Ray Chen will also be calling for nominations for future 'musical heroes'.
