University of Michigan Violin Professor Takes Leave Following Numerous Assault Allegations

The Michigan Daily newspaper has today reported University of Michigan School of Music Violin Professor Stephen Shipps has taken leave from the school - following allegations published earlier this week of alleged sexual harassment and sexual misconduct.
The accusations, published in the campus publication on Monday, include reports by numerous female students of alleged unwelcomed touching, sexual assault – and of maintaining prolonged sexual relations with teenage students.
Mr Shipps has served a teaching position at the University since September 1989 – and up until this week served as Faculty Director of the Strings Preparatory Academy pre-college program.
No charges have been brought against Mr Shipps.
Neither the University nor Mr Shipp's lawyer have made any public comment in regards to the allegations.
Presumptions of innocence apply.
